VAV     "ve-yar elokim ki-tov"

The basic theme of this ‘iconoscape’ is the fifth day of creation – the day G-d created the fowl and the water creatures.
The initial letter, vav, is composed of birds and fish. Combined motifs of  feather and fish scales comprise the top of the border. Included at the bottom are fish and water. The right side consists of pillars relating to the “pillars of creation”. The “pillar of truth” stands directly behind the vav.
Since the vav is the sixth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, I have chosen to use six pillars representing the six days of creation. The six-pointed Stars of David also appear here.
The streamers connecting the letters to each other, a device I have used in other ‘iconoscapes’, are especially relevant here. The vav itself is a connective, signifying the word “and”.
The translation of “VE-YAR ELOKIM KI-TOV” is as follows, “And G-d saw that is was good.” (Genesis 1:21)
